NewsNet wins awards for online accomplishments

KBYU News receives journalism award
KBYU News, a division of BYU NewsNet received the Mark of Excellence Award for best daily newscast from the Society of Professional Journalists. The award was presented at the SPJ's annual convention in Seattle/Bellevue, Wash.

Once again, BYU's NewsNet has been recognized as one of the best college online news sites in the nation.

Saturday, Oct. 27, Michael Buhrley, NewsNet Web director, represented NewsNet and the Daily Universe at the National College Media Convention in New Orleans.

NewsNet was awarded as a finalist and for winning the National Online Pacemaker Award.

The Associated Collegiate Press started giving awards in 1928, Buhrley said.

NewsNet has won this award two years in a row.

NewsNet has also been the recipient of the EPPY award for the past three years being recognized as the best college online news service in the nation.

The Daily Universe also won an award for being a finalist in the race for the College Newspaper Pacemaker Award.
