This weekend, students have a chance to watch Dancensemble's newest performance as well as win big prizes.
About 30 different dancers will perform 12 dances.
Organizers of the Dancensemble say they think the performance gives students an opportunity to get a date and make a cultural impression.
"The reason this concert is good for guys to go to is they can get a girl to go with them," said Kristen Smith, secretary of Dancensemble. "It's a great dating opportunity and plus, girls think guys are deep if they take them to a dance concert."
Stefanie Neeley is the vice president of Dancensemble. She said girls always appreciate a guy who can take her to a cultural event like a dance concert.
You never know what could come out of a date to some type of performance.
"I married my husband because he took me to a dance concert on our first date and I really liked him after that," Smith said.
The concert will display a variety of dance, different students have choreographed each performance. For some of the students it's their first time doing choreography, others are experienced.
"I love being part of the choreography process," said Whitney Wheadon, historian of Dancensemble. "We learn a lot about dance and how to put our moves on other people as well as what goes into putting on a program."
"There's a ton of variety," Neeley said. "There will be a lot of different feelings and emotions in the whole performance."
There will be a raffle at the end of the concert. The winner will receive a package of five boxes of cereal.
"Everyone loves cereal, and we've got it," said Pat Debenham, director of Dancensemble.
"It's name brand cereal too, none of the cheap stuff," Smith said.
Smith said that students shouldn't only come for the cereal, or only because the dancers are hot, but they should come because there's going to be good choreography and dancing.
The performances will be in the Dance Studio Theater 166 RB Friday, March 28, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 29, at 2:00 and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 and are available in the HFAC ticket office.
