The BYU men's soccer team returns home to face the Nevada Wonders (1-2) tonight, May 14, at the South Field.

The Cougars will also play against Nevada on Saturday, May 15. Both games start at 7:30 p.m.

The team (0-3) is looking to win its first game this season against a team that has shown much improvement on the field.

Nevada, who finished at the bottom of the conference last season, has established a relationship with Buris F.C., a professional club in England, and has brought six players from that club to add more talent to the team this summer.

"We feel very confident about today's game," midfielder Chad Deshler said. "We learned a lot this last weekend from our games in California."

Two players that could make a difference for the Cougars are center back Brad Peterson and midfielder Gilbert Gaertner.

"Peterson is a center back, but he is attacking pretty well up front as well," BYU head coach Chris Watkins said. "Gilbert is a creator; he is kind of a fun player to watch with a lot of individual moves."

Watkins said the defense has to play well. He believes that to have a chance to win, they have to hold Nevada to a shut out or avoid that they score more than one goal in the game.

"We need to play the game the way we know how to do, work hard like we always do." said Martin Martinez a goalkeeper from Buenos Aires, Argentina. "The key for the game is to put pressure on them, don't let them out, try to do our game."
