He didn't wear a mask or attack from the shadows, the first or the second time.

The man forced his way into a 22-year-old woman's BYU-approved apartment and raped her mid-morning, Dec. 1, one month after he sexually assaulted her the first time, police said.

"We've got different crews of officers on this case," said Provo police Capt. Rick Healey, "all doing different things."

The woman, who does not attend BYU, reported to Provo police that a man sexually assaulted her in her neighborhood in November, according to a police report. The description of the man from her first assault is similar to last week's rape suspect.

"She really thinks it's the same man," Healey said.

With the added impact that the suspect could be a possible serial sex offender, officials are planning to intensify their search by going door to door.

Officers will start their foot-search for the suspect around the Branbury Park apartments, where both assaults allegedly occurred. Officers will also show a rendered drawing of the man at doorsteps to jog any memories neighbors might have of the suspect.

And because the man wore no disguise, the sketch will likely be very accurate.

"He didn't try and conceal his identity," Healey said. "So, we've got a pretty good description."

The sketch will illustrate a 5-foot-8-inch Hispanic male in his late 20s and early 30s, possibly wearing a black knit cap, dark shirt and jeans. The woman also remembers the suspect having distinctive facial features: a full goatee surrounded by "5-days-growth of hair" and earrings in both ears.

"She didn't know who he was, which is unusual," Healey said. "Most of them[victims] know who they are."

Healey said the woman has been "very helpful" during the investigation and expects that she will testify against the suspect if he is found and charged.

In 2005, 64 rapes were reported in Provo.
