The BYU men's hockey team is back in action this weekend with a game against Loyola Marymount tonight, and two games against Long Beach State on Friday and Saturday.

The team left late last night to travel to Southern California for the games.

The Cougars' first contest of this weekend is against the Loyola Marymount Lions. It will be the first time this season that the Cougars will face the Lions.

"They [Lions] are a very good opponent who will give us a great challenge," said assistant coach Don Homan.

The hockey team will then face the Long Beach State 49ers, who the Cougars beat 3-2 on Oct. 2nd 2007, in their first game of the year. The 49ers are currently ranked No. 3 in the Western Region, while the Cougars are ranked No. 7.

"We will win if we play 60 minutes of committed hockey this weekend," said coach Homan.

This three game road swing will be a great test of endurance for the Cougar hockey team. They have only played in two games since their 7-5 win over Utah State on Dec. 14th, 2007.
