The BYU baseball team will spend the rest of the week in California, playing six games in the next five days.

The Cougars should be riding some momentum after snapping a five-game losing skid, and look to push their win streak to two games against the University of Pacific.

The teams will play in Stockton, Calif. both today and Wednesday at 6 p.m. The Tigers and Cougars have identical records at 2-5. The probable BYU pitchers against Pacific are Jake Wortham (0-1, 9.00)

and Tyler Westensee (0-0, 13.50).

"We are swinging the bats well, but our pitchers haven't done as well and I know they will," BYU coach Vance Law said in Monday's news release. "With the experience we are getting, nothing but better performances will come."

Heading into the series against the Tigers, Kent Walton will look to extend his 14-game hitting streak. The streak, which began last season, is still a ways away from the team record set in 2003 at 39 games.

Cougar third baseman Steve Parker is off to an impressive start with three homeruns and 10 RBI. Right-handed pitcher Jordan Muir has pitched the most innings for the Cougars this year and maintained an impressive 3.75 ERA.

After the pair of games against the University of Pacific, the Cougars will take a short bus ride to Sacramento, Calif. to play in the fifth annual River City Classic co-hosted by Cal State Sacramento and UC Davis. Teams in the tournament include Portland, San Jose State, Sacramento State, UC Davis, Utah Valley University and BYU.

Sacramento State (1-5) will be starting former BYU third baseman Blake Crosby at shortstop. Crosby's brother Bobby is the starting shortstop for the Oakland Athletics.

The Cougars are also scheduled to speak at a fireside on Friday night in Sacramento.
