There is something appealing and desirable about people who are truly happy; they radiate the peace they feel with themselves and the world. But it seems our society is becoming more negative - we're much better at sulking than smiling. Let's all fill our lives with laughter, practice smiling a bit, and heaven forbid, be happy for a change!
1. Surround yourself with happy people: You may not be aware, but take a good look at the people you spend your time with. Do they make you feel good or are they the type to dampen your spirits?
2. Indulge in your passions: Most people don't do what they love, or they don't do it often enough. Does painting make you smile, or what about the musical instrument you've always wanted to learn? Do it already and stop making excuses.
3. Rise early: Think of all the things you can do with that extra time - watch the sunrise, eat breakfast for a change, read or have some quality "me time."
4. Listen to inspiring music: It's a personal belief that music is the closest thing we have to heaven. Music can have a powerful effect on your spirit, whether it brings it down or makes it shine. And gospel music is definitely not the only inspirational stuff out there.
5. Think positively: Thoughts are an extremely powerful tool. Thinking negatively seems to make the whole day spiral downward, encouraging more bad things to happen. But having a good attitude can have the opposite effect. Try it.
*Note: There have been a lot of questions about last week's "Fab Five" on saving money at the gas pump. Although they came from various credible sources on the Internet, the article failed to mention that the tips haven't been scientifically proven. Some people believe they are bogus, while others swear by their validity. To form your own opinion, check out snopes.com.
