The BYU men's golf team will play host to their last regular season tournament of the year April 18 and 19 at Riverside Country Club in Provo. BYU has finished strong in recent tournaments and will look for a solid finish on their home course.

"I feel pretty confident," coach Todd Miller said. "We showed some good signs in Texas, and they have been playing good all year at Riverside."

The BYU golf team is one of the youngest in the NCAA with only one Junior and zero Seniors on the team.

In their most recent tournament, sophomore Robbie Fillmore finished in fourth place. Earlier in the year freshman Esteban Calisto placed tenth at the U.S. Intercollegiate.

The PING Cougar Classic is a tournament in which the Cougars have fared well. Riverside Country Club has made several changes to the course, including the removal of several trees that previously had a significant impact on the way the course plays, according to several golf team members.

Fillmore leads the Cougars with a scoring average of 72.30 in the 20 rounds he has played this year. His lowest round so far this year was a 66 in the third round of the John H. Burns Invitational. Fillmore has four top 20 finishes so far this year.

The Mountain West Conference Tournament will be held in Tucson, Ariz., April 24-26. The MWC Tournament will be followed by the NCAA West Regional Championships and the NCAA Championships.

"When you shoot well on your home course you are expected to do well at your home tournament," Miller said. "We know they can play well, but we hope these guys don't put too much pressure on themselves."
