As if winning the Deseret First Duel trophy wasn't enough, BYU outfielders Sean McNaughton and Kent Walton can add some more hardware to their collection.

The Mountain West Conference honored the two BYU players Monday, when McNaughton was named to the first team All-Mountain West Conference, and Walton was named to the conference second team.

Neither player is stranger to being recognized for their play.

Before serving a mission, McNaughton was selected to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America team by Collegiate Baseball magazine and to Baseball America's Midseason Freshman All-America team.

As a sophomore this season, McNaughton has led the team in most offensive statistical categories. He has connected for a batting average of .354 along with belting in 14 home runs.

McNaughton has scored 65 runs to go along with 53 RBI's and 21 stolen bases.

"I think we play the game of baseball in the first place so that we can be remembered and leave a heritage behind and a legacy," McNaughton said.

McNaughton is also the only player on the team to start all 56 games this past season.

Walton, a junior, has also made strong contributions to BYU this year, leading the team in triples and trailing only McNaughton in RBIs with 44.

Also, Walton has played well as a defender. He boasts a fielding percentage of .981 and has only committed three errors all season.

Last season, Walton was Mountain West Conference Player of the Week twice, and ended the season on a seven game hitting streak. He also had hitting streaks of 12 games and 11 games as a freshman.

BYU has had at least one player named to the MWC All-Conference first every year since the creation of the conference in 1999.

Joining McNaughton on the MWC first team are Brian Holaday (TCU), Ben Carruthers(TCU), Clint Arnold (TCU), Tyler Lockwood (TCU), Xavier Scruggs (UNLV), Troy Hanzawa (SDSU), Nick Romero (SDSU), Stephen Strasburg (SDSU), Brian Cavazos-Galvez (UNM), Cody Guymon (Utah), and Stephen Fife (Utah).
