False Information
June 6
Police stopped a BYU student and a juvenile who were skateboarding by the JKB against the school's policy. The males, ages 19 and 17 from the Provo area, gave the police officer false identification. Police said they will have to appear in court, and will most likely be fined and put on probation.
Industrial Accident
June 3
A student was cutting pipes with an electrical saw in Knight Mangum Bldg., when he lost his balance and cut into the back of his left thigh. He was transported by Provo paramedics to Utah Valley Hospital.
Animal Issues
June 3
An officer and a grounds employee rescued 11 ducklings from falling into a storm drain on the south side of the NCAA track.
June 2
A blind deer was found by a resident at the Wymount Terrace. Provo Animal Control was called and they came and took care of the animal. They knew it was blind because it was running into things.
Trespassing
June 1
Five students, males and females, were reported for riding their bikes inside of JFSB. They were warned and released.
Disorderly Conduct
May 30
A BYU female student refused to show her BYU I.D. before going to work-out in the Smith Field House. She had a class there which did not require identification to participate. She refused to show her I.D. after class, because she said she didn't feel like she had to, police said. She was uncooperative with the officer and she was asked to leave.
Fraud
May 28
A BYU student's debit card was fraudulently used on the Internet for several charges. There were 9 to 10 charges made, most of them between $1 and $2, the largest charge was $57. Police are still investigating.
Criminal Mischief
May 27
Someone broke into a Heritage Halls building and plugged the toilet and the sinks with paper. It flooded the apartment. Police said it was probably EFY related. Maintenance was called and they took care of it.
Theft
June 4
An adult male and a 15-year-old female were arrested for shoplifting in the BYU Bookstore. They tried to take a package of $7.99 Rook cards. They are both non-students. They were caught by floor walkers and will be charged in court with retail theft. They just wanted to play the game but did not want to pay for cards, police said.
May 27
Two EFY students were arrested for shoplifting at the Bookstore. They attempted to take a basketball. They were stopped by floor walkers. They will be referred to Juvenile Court. They cooperated with officers.
May 23
A female student reported a wallet stolen from an R.B. locker. She left her clothes and her wallet in the locker before starting a class. She thought she locked it, police said, but when she came back the locker was open and her wallet was missing.
Suspicious Behavior
May 27
Someone called in about a suspicious male in the WSC. The suspect had long, blonde hair and a goatee. It turned out he had lost his camera and came in to see if it was brought to the Lost & Found, police said.
May 31
A student called and reported suspicious behavior at 11 p.m.. A car had been running around the law school parking lot for 30 minutes, police said. When the officer arrived the male explained he was teaching his girlfriend how to drive.
June 4
An EFY counselor called to report a suspicious male walking through campus on N. Campus Drive. She said he was saying strange things to the counselors regarding the church. The police suspects the individual was Anti-LDS. He was cooperative with the officer, who let him continue on his way.
