Beginning today, UVU's Turning Point Center for Personal and Career Development will offer anger management classes for adults.
This weekly class runs until Oct. 15 and covers a wide range of topics on how to handle anger in life experiences.
Lujean Marshall, Turning Point's coordinator and an instructor for the classes, said the classes are comprehensive courses about "learning to keep anger under control so that you chose a response instead of just reacting to a situation."
The curriculum includes personal responsibility, communication styles, the physical and psychological elements of anger and many other topics.
Marshall said the class is more than just one class of talking about anger.
Each week of class focuses on a different aspect of anger management and works with the students to completely overcome anger issues.
The anger management course is 12 weeks and costs $200.
Scholarships are offered for low-income individuals who qualify.
Turning Point is part of the Continuing Education department at UVU and it offers classes for everyone around the Utah Valley.
It is a community resource for families who want to improve themselves emotionally and professionally.
"We offer many classes," said Marshall, "It's more community outreach."
Other classes available to the public are successful life management, marriage workshops and managing life transitions. Class schedules can be found at www.uvu.edu/ce or by contacting Turning Point at 801-863-7580.
