Some people are just born with it.
They've got that canny eye for fashion, knowing when to mix and not match, and for how long they can wear white shoes and when denim shorts are actually acceptable.
With every changing season, the well-dressed always know what's in.
InStyle.com and People's StyleWatch say scarves, purple, boots, plaid and headbands are in style this fall.
Shelby Russell, owner of Soel Boutique in Provo, agreed.
"Fall is about a lot of accessories," Russell said. "There's headbands, broaches and fun-colored shoes."
BYU students are equally anxious for the season's new wear.
Zach Almeida, a 22-year-old BYU student from Denver, majoring in business management, is already preparing his fall wardrobe.
"I bought a plaid shirt and scarf this summer," Almeida said. "I will wear my scarf with jeans and a solid colored V-neck shirt and my plaid shirt with jeans and some ghetto kicks."
Hali Donohoo, a senior from Nashville, Tenn., majoring in English, is also making fall's necessary purchases.
"I just bought a really cute green and gray plaid scarf," she said. "Now I just need that perfect cardigan to go with it."
- Scarves - They're the modern Bohemian. Suitable for men and women, the neck accessory provides a carefree look. InStyle.com suggests pairing with a floral dress or tweed blazer.
- Purple - It's rich and royal and the color of candy. It's sophisticated yet sweet. For the season, People.com recommends plum and magenta hues as well.
- Boots - They're a step up from flats and sneakers. Ankle boots and cut-out booties are hot for fall. Vogue.com also recommends a practical pair of equestrian boots.
- Plaid - Its scope reaches far more than farmers. Plaid button-downs are in for men and women, and plaid dresses with a feminine touch are a guaranteed fashion find as well, according to People.com.
- Headbands - They're perfect for all occasions, from jazzing up a tee and skinny jeans to strutting the runway in heels and pearls. The owners of True Birds accessories at truebirds.com recommend vintage style headbands inspired by the roaring '20s.
