BYU will host the Pakistani ambassador to the United States this week as embassies and schools of all levels across the globe celebrate International Education Week starting Monday.
Husain Haqqani, Pakistani ambassador to the United States, will address students and faculty Thursday at 11 a.m. in 238 HRCB.
Lee Simons, the communications manager for the David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies, said Haqqani's staff recently informed her the title of his speech is "The Transformation in Pakistan."
Simons said International Education Week is sponsored by the U.S. departments of State and Education.
According to his Web site, www.husainhaqqani.com, Haqqani came to the United States in 2002 as a visiting scholar at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and as an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University.
Haqqani has published numerous articles in international and U.S. news media. His pieces on Pakistan and reforming the Muslim world have appeared in The Wall Street Journal and Foreign Policy magazine.
This week also marks the Kennedy Center's 25th anniversary.
